Silica Ramming Mass

Silica ramming mass is an acidic ramming refractory made mainly from high-purity quartz sand and fused silica, with composite binders and additives. It is constructed using dry or semi-dry ramming methods and features good overall density.

 

1. Main Components: 

• Aggregate: high-purity quartz sand, fused silica

• Matrix: fine quartz powder, silica fume

• Binders: resin, water glass, phosphate, boride, etc.

• Additives: sintering agent, anti-cracking agent, densifying agent

 

2. Physical and Chemical Characteristics:

• High SiO₂ content, generally ≥ 92%

• High refractoriness and good high-temperature volume stability

• Strong resistance to acid slag and acid gas corrosion

• Moderate thermal conductivity and good thermal shock resistance

• No reaction with molten non-ferrous metals such as zinc and aluminum

• Easy to construct; with rapid strength increase after tamping and forming

 

3. Performance Advantages: 

• Acidic material with excellent acid slag resistance

• No contamination to non-ferrous metals, no iron increase, no aluminum adhesion

• Low high-temperature creep, stable structure with little deformation

• Low cost, high cost-effectiveness

 

4. Main Applications:

• Linings of smelting furnaces for non-ferrous metals (zinc, aluminum, tin, etc.)

• Linings of induction furnaces and crucible furnaces

• Acid atmosphere parts such as pickling tanks and flues

• Repairable areas of coke ovens and glass furnaces

• Low to medium-temperature linings of various industrial furnaces
